Since February 2002, Sirocco has been involved in an education project run jointly by Kensington and Chelsea Arts
Council and the Royal College of Music's Woodhouse Centre. Working with animateur Julian West, they have made
monthly visits to the Maxilla Nursery where they have given workshops for the children on a variety of musical
concepts such as pitch, dynamics and tempo. Encouraging the children to participate in musical games and activities is
a big part of these sessions. They also have an opportunity to hear the quintet perform and to learn about
the instruments and sound production. The workshops conclude with a performance to parents by the children, Julian and
Sirocco.
